Spring League Regular Season Finishes

With 2 games this past weekend for both teams, the PNAAU Spring League Regular Season has concluded. The end of the league tournament will be next weekend. It will be a single elimination tournament for both teams.

Here is how each team fared this past weekend and for the season all together.

North City Blue

Past Weekend: Played two teams with juniors and seniors, including iBall with Bothell standout Prince Lacy. North City played hard and built an early lead against iBall but was down by 4pts at halftime. North City eventually lost 49-40 but played hard, led by the inside presence of Travis Bakken. The second game we played Lake Steven HS Varsity. Lake Stevens was a formidable opponent and eventually won by 11pts over North City blue.  North City was led by Brian Zehr’s 17 points.

Overall, the season was a struggle for North City Blue but a great learning experience. We finished 0-8 but were the only team with all freshmen to compete in Division I of the PNAAU Varsity League. We played some great competition and each player grew stronger because of it. I am proud of their effort and look forward to seeing the hard work pay off when we take on kids in the same age group in future tournaments.

North City White

Past Weekend: A strong weekend for North City White with two victories over Emerald City teams. The first game, against Emerald City South JV, the game was tied at halftime, but North City stormed out of the gates in the second half and took home a 16 point victory led by Noah Jones and his 15pts. In the second game, North City jumped all over Emerald City Redmond Rush and took a commanding lead at halftime behind strong defense from Anxhelos Pere and Benny Ortega. North City won the game by 13pts and had a strong team effort all around.

Overall, the season was a success for North City White. Competing in Division I of the 9th/JV PNNAU league, the team went 6-2 losing one game in overtime and the other by 5pts.  Each player showed improvement throughout the season and we are looking forward to competing in the end of the league tournament next weekend.
