North City was the only team in the 9th grade division to enter two teams. It was a competitive field and each player was able to get better because of it. Here are two recaps for the two teams.
North City Blue
Very successful weekend for the team. With an overall 5-1 record and 5th place finish, North City Blue beat some quality opponents. The only loss for North City Blue all weekend was a Double Overtime loss to EC Pioneers 2014. It was a great game, but the ball didn’t bounce our way and we ended up losing after two extra quarters. I was proud of our team for bouncing back from a heartbreaking loss and beating two quality teams to eventually place in 5th for the tournament. A big thanks to Coach Tam Nguyen and Coach Mike Lawson for their help with this team throughout the weekend.

North City White
This group had the tougher draw and eventually played 3 teams that placed in the tournament. Coach Carter was proud of the effort and how much we competed. We were the ONLY program to bring 2 teams at the 9th grade level and to go 2-3 was hugely successful. I was most proud of our win over Oregon Elite on Sunday morning. With a loss, the weekend would have been over. The team came out on FIRE and hit six 3s in the first quarter and took a 24-7 lead and held on. Great win to keep the weekend going.
