SUMMER TRAINING DETAILS
To help with individual player development, we are offering summer training sessions in a small group setting. This means up to 7 players will be assigned 1 dedicated coach and receive 2 (1 hr) training sessions per week. These sessions will focus on improving offensive skills including shooting ability, individual moves and also include strength training.

 

Location: 
Alderwood Boys and Girls Club

GROUP 1: Tuesday/Thursday – only 8:30pm available
GROUP 2: Wednesday/Friday – 6:30pm or 7:30pm available

 

Dates/Times
Start Date: June 21st or June 22nd (depending on whether you are in Tues/Thurs or Wed/Fri group)
End Date: August 25th or August 26th

 

*Your grade = Fall of 2016 grade level

 

Cost:
$410.00 (can be paid in 2 installments)
With 20 total sessions in the package, this equals out to about $20/session.
First payment is due when you sign up, second payment will automatically process on July 15th.

Spring Session Training
 
Dates: Mondays and Wednesdays
March 21 through May 25th (20 total sessions)
 
Times: Two time slots to choose from:
7-8pm or 8-9pm.

(ONLY 8pm session available at this time)

Cost: $400 for all 20 sessions. (Can be paid in 2 installments)

Session Description: A session consists of 1 hour of small group (up to 6 total players) and 1 coach. One of our current North City coaches will lead these small groups for one hour through offensive skills training, ball handling, 1 on 1 moves, shooting and strength/conditioning training.
Each player will choose a time slot (see above) and they will have hourly training sessions at that time on Monday and Wednesday every week.

We are happy to announce that we have confirmed almost 100% of our staff and wanted to share in advance of spring/summer tryouts. We are building a staff to accommodate two teams for each grade level.

TRAINERS

Sgt. Mike Lawson
Director of Training and Co-Founder “Sgt” Mike Lawson will again lead our training efforts for the program. Lawson leads training efforts for the Seattle Pacific University Men’s and Women’s basketball programs, along with heavily involved in training for the WNBA’s Seattle Storm.

Chris Hyppa
Chris will again lead ball handling and skill development clinics for our players this year. Chris is a highly regarded trainer that has helped several collegiate and professional players reach their dreams.

All of our coaches also provide training to each team and have been trained/coached by Coach Lawson.

Since 2010, North City Training has provided players in King and Snohomish County with a quality spring/summer AAU and training option. We are focused on improving each player through offensive skills training, an innovative strength/conditioning program and competing against the top AAU teams through leagues and tournaments. This past year we had 100+ local area players ranging from 3rd grade to high school seniors and coming from as far north as Mount Vernon, as far east as Wenatchee and as far south as Seattle.

REGISTRATION FOR TRYOUTS:
Tryouts will be $10 per player. This registration cost will pay for the gym space and coaching fees involved in tryouts. We have teamed up with Team Sports Admin, a local company, to complete the registration and we have 100% confidence in their tool.

Middle School (4th Grade through 7th Grade) Information

Season Start: March 7th

PRACTICES for Middle School Teams – starting the week of March 7th (after tryouts)
Mondays/Wednesdays – 7:30pm-9:30pm

All practices will take place at Jackson HS, with Cascade HS in South Everett serving as our backup/rotating gym.

Each team will have 2 practices each week, lasting 2 hours that will encompass a blend of individual training (40%), team offense/defense (40%) and core strength training (20%).

TOURNAMENTS for Middle School
Based on the talent level of each team, we will build a tournament schedule that challenges each team and provides the most competitive environment possible. The week after tryouts we will finalize the tournament schedule and communicate to each team.

Please note: Not all teams will travel to “out of state” tournaments. This travel cost (hotel, flight, etc) is not included in the total cost of the program.

Each team will play in a minimum of 6 tournaments over the spring session. Some of the tournaments in consideration are below.

COSTS
The season cost for Middle School team is $825 for the 4 month season; March through June.
A $125 uniform/apparel package is also required for the season.

$450 due immediately to secure spot (non-refundable)

We have scholarships and payment plans available for those that need help. Please reach out for more information. We want to make sure all players have the opportunity to participate.

This cost includes a new uniform and apparel (sweats, shirt, sweatshirt) for all players. This cost also includes all practices, fees for coaches/trainers, gym space and tournament entry fees.

Note: We needed to order new uniforms this year due to our design being discontinued. It was our goal to keep the same uniform from last year but we are forced to order new uniforms for ALL players. We apologize for this inconvenience but intend to use a provider that allows this 2016 uniforms to last 2-3 additional seasons.

SCHOLARSHIPS
We recommend all families take part in fundraising but understand that some players may need scholarships. For the past 6 years, we have provided over $30,000 in scholarships and assign 1 full scholarship to each team at the start of the year. This scholarship can be split in half to accommodate two families. A scholarship application form is available to verify financial assistance and the details of the scholarship.

TRAINING ONLY OPTION
For those that don’t make one of our teams, we will offer an option for players to sign up for training. This training will be an 8 week session, with sessions twice per week for one hour. It will be small group training with 1 coach for no more than 5 players. We will provide an online sign-up the week after tryouts have concluded.

We are more than a month into the spring season so we wanted to provide an update on the spring season. It has been very successful. Here are some photos to show you the following (in order):

Thank you to everyone that took part in our tryouts this year. We had a record 175 players take part in tryouts across 7 different grades. All roster selections have been emailed to ALL tryout participants. Please email northcityaau @ gmail .com if did not receive the email or have questions.
